My Dream, My Future

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.
=Henry David Thoreau=

We have all ambitions in life. And to reach our goals and aspirations, we should strive hard to get it.

I spent one week to write something about my dreams and my future, and now I'd like to share it with all my friends.

The moment when others suddenly asked me about my future was the moment I realized that I should begin to think about it carefully. I tried to write down all the future plans that I have had before in order to find something worth. Looking at my list, I suddenly noticed that as the time went by, all my great future plans became dreams, but the small ones became true.

At the age of 11, I had my first great future plan and that was to become a MEDICAL TECHNICIAN. At my young age, I am curious if what does a Medtech works. My grandmother works as a Medtech at Philippine General Hospital and when we go where she works, she convinces me to be like her. But when I reach the age of 16, my father asked me what course I'm planning to take up. Well, I answered Medical Technology, constantly. Happily, my father wants it..

I choose Medical Technology as my course preference because I love dealing with science, and I was greatly influenced by my titas and titos. I just want to help my parents because they have sacrificed a lot just to sustain my needs financially or materially. I just want to help my cousins who are needy and to help others because if I help people who needs my help. Well, Medical Technology is not an easy regimen but I will do my very best to make it. If God permits me to successfully graduate as a Registered Medical Technician, then I will plan to took-up my doctrate degree and to help those who aims to become a Medtech someday. Hopefully, I will reach all my dreams in life. I know this would be a great challenge on my part, there would be detours that would come along my way, but I am fully determined to pursue this path. For sure, I know that God is with me.

Change: It Starts with Me

          Change.

One syllabled. But not actually a word.
             It is a will.
Change is an unending cycle in everyone’s life and to be able to uphold it, we must make the best out of it. It is that one and only thing that constantly occurs on every creature. We cannot go past through it. We cannot escape from it.
As we go through years, I noticed , I became more apprehensive not senile, my friend. The future of the next generations and the world lies within our very own hands. If we will not change for good, nothing good will happen too.
Time to time I learn, stumble, get up and move forward. With the experiences I still gain, I always learn something from them. I don’t live anymore in fantasy. I have learned to open my eyes to the reality of today.
Before changing the world, let us try to look at the mirror first. Let us also change for the betterment and change should always start from within.

Kannawidan: The Ylocos Festival

The province of Ilocos Sur has recently celebrated its Kannawidan Ylocos Festival. This year marks the province’s 193rd year based on the Royal Decree dated February 2, 1818 separating Ilocos Sur from Ilocos Norte. Prior to this date, the stretch of Bangui in Ilocos Norte down to Luna La Union is called Ylocos which is a term to refer to the coastal inhabitants. It literally meant “from the lowlands”.
Ilocos Sur especially Vigan is branded as the Heart of Ilocandia by the Philippine Historical Committee. It’s a province very rich in culture and heritage. Kannawidan means traditions and this province got to showcase all what she has. On January 31 to February 4, 2012 several activities were lined up for the celebration.

There was even eating contests of these delicacies of Ilocos Sur as well as basi drinking contest. Traditional games were played and bingo as well. New Year, New Me

2011 is over. 2012 is in. Last 2011, was an exhaustful, happy and "astig" year for me. I believe that my motto "Everything happens for a reason" came true last year because of the unexpected events happened in my life. Last year, I didn't exert effort in studying. Last year, I didn't show more responsibilities at home, even at school.
This year, 2012 is another year to change those bad habits, traits etc. This year, I promise to myself that i should burn the midnight oil and to kill two birds with one stone. I promise to myself that I should be more responsible in doing chores at home and at school. I promise to myself this 2012, a new HANNAH will be better.

Keeping in Mind Our Mother Tongue

"Ang di magmahal sa kanyang sariling wika ay katulad sa isang malansang isda".
                                                                                          -Dr. Jose P. Rizal
That was one of the famous line of Dr. Jose P. Rizal's "Sa Aking mga Kababata". I remember my mom saying"love your native dialect, use it and be proud of it, because in this generation or i should say that in "your generation", uses now different languages like "jejemon", "taglish", "gay lingo", etc." The advice of my mom awakened and boosted up my nerves to use our Mother Tongue, the Filipino language or Tagalog.
Since I use most all the time is Filipino language or Tagalog when I was in Manila for 12 years, I can say that I still keep to use my native language up to now, because I do well or I should say in Tagalog, "bihasa sa paggamit ng Tagalog". To my fellow youth, use our Mother Tongue and say"I'm PROUD to be a FILIPINO".
